The New Clutch & Flywheel

I just finished installing a Tilton Carbon/Carbon racing clutch in the Supra.  This clutch is AWESOME.  It is rated to hold over 1000 ft/lbs of torque.  And the most amazing thing is, the pedal effort is a lot less than a stock clutch.  The guys at Tilton really know what they are doing.

This is like the 6th Supra in the country to have a Tilton Carbon/Carbon racing clutch installed on it.  This type of clutch is usually used on IRL, NASCAR, Midgets and other high performance machines.

The new Flywheel that the clutch is bolted to only weighs 7 lbs.  This makes the complete clutch/flywheel package come to 13 lbs.  Compare this to the original Supra clutch at something like 40 lbs.

The Hydraulic Release Bearing mounts inside the bell housing.  This Tilton marvel of engineering is what allows the exceptional feel and actuation of the clutch.  Not to mention that the pedal effort is almost nothing.

The great gang at Bullish Racing supplied me with the clutch and were extremely helpful when it came around to questions.

Here are some pictures of the Flywheel, Clutch and the Hydraulic Release Bearing.
